Using rewards to train your dog.

Jan 12, 2022Whistleandwagdogtraining1 CommentUncategorized

I come across very few dog owners nowadays who don’t reward their dog in some way for its hard work. Why wouldn’t you? I know I certainly wouldn’t do much if I didn’t get anything back, or worse still, if I only got punished when I didn’t get things right. The focus of this article […]

Dog recall training – “Don’t worry he’s friendly”

Dec 10, 2021WhistleandwagdogtrainingUncategorized

This is a worryingly frequent phase heard in dog walking locations across the UK. If you haven’t heard this phase whilst out and about enjoying your time with your dog then I would suggest you are extremely lucky. It seems to have become the phrase that people use to justify their dogs rogue behaviour and […]

THE GREAT DEBATE HARNESS OR COLLAR

Nov 5, 2021WhistleandwagdogtrainingUncategorized

What should I put on my puppy? This is a question we hear frequently in recent years as harnesses have become more and more popular. Our answer is always the same it doesn’t really matter what you put on your puppy. What matters is teaching your puppy loose lead walking.  That said if your dog […]

REVIEW – Pinewood training vest Earlier this year I was lucky enough to be asked to review the Pinewood light Pro training vest by Happy Hotdogs in conjunction with The Ladies Working Dog Group. I have tried numerous training vests in the past for my gundog training and they are always too bulky or make […]

We have just completed the beginners classes with our miniature Jack Russell and she has ended the course a completely different dog! With plenty of time to practice each task during the session and Jemma & Nicci’s personalised and thoughtful advice we have a much calmer and happier little dog. Jemma’s 1:1 sessions are so productive and have helped us deal with our dogs fears at home in a positive and safe space for her. Thank you!

Great fun training for both the dogs and their humans. The trainers are able to adjust to what is going to work best for the individuals. It has been a great part of our dogs education. Well worth attending

We have done Whistle and Wag puppy and intermediate classes with our rescue schnauzer and and she is a different dog as a result. They have given fantastic and thoughtful advice about how best to help her overcome her fears and how to build a bond with her through positive training. Most of all it's been great fun for both of us, she loves going there.

I have been training with Gemma, Niki & Molly at Whistle & Wag since my puppy, Copper, was 13weeks old. Copper is turning into a beautiful, well trained dog and this is good to the hard work Whistke & Wag put into their training with us all. I thoroughly enjoy my Monday evenings with the group as does Copper who comes home mentally exhausted ☺️
